Oil of Gladness – Joy Essential Oil Blend
Joy – A Modern Oil of Gladness
In the fall of 2015 I found myself feeling not quite as happy as I thought I should. It was a bit frustrating, because I could make a list of all the great things I had going on in my life and I thought that from an objective point of view I should be happy. My work was meaningful and I had a classroom full of really great students. I was married to a wonderful man who adored me. My health was good and I was fairly fit. I had the best dog in the world who also adored me. Still, my life lacked joy.
This wasn’t about expecting overwhelming, giddy happiness. No, I was simply wanting more of a feeling of contentment and an absence of sorrow. Instead, I felt a little sad for no reason. The only thing I could think of at the time was a friend who had been sharing her essential oils with me. I decided to give her a call and give the oils a try. I described how I was feeling and she invited me to come over. My friend picked out 3 Young Living oils for me and she had them waiting for me when I got there. One of those oils was the blend called Joy.
Joy is a blend of Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Lemon, Coriander, Tangerine, Jasmine, Roman Chamomile, Palmarosa, and Rose essential oils. The label describes topical and aromatic usage. I know of people who don’t care for the smell of it, but personally I like it very well. It’s flowery.
Joy – An Aptly Named Blend
I didn’t stop with Joy, of course. I became a member of Young Living and started using many other oils along with Joy. Therefore I can’t really credit any one oil with my current state of contentment and general happiness. I can say, though, that Joy was the beginning for me. I put a drop of it over my heart every day. If my happiness gauge gets a little low, then I diffuse Joy at home or in my work space.
Psalms 45:7 says “Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows; your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia.” The Bible also mentions oil of gladness or oil of joy in 3 other verses. No recipe is given, nor would one be needed. The blend Young Living has developed continues to be a source of gladness for me.
Joy is part of a group of emotional oils that includes Valor, Stress Away, Release, and Gentle Baby. They are all available only from Young Living. If you are interested, I’d love you have you join my team!
