Casper, Wyoming Sunday Drive
This last weekend was a busy one in our household. Saturday found my husband 122 miles away in Riverton, WY, where he was refereeing high school soccer games. I spent the day cooking and finishing up the paining of my office space. By the end of the day, we were both exhausted. We decided to go for a Sunday drive to Casper, Wyoming. There was a little shopping we wanted to do, and we do enjoy spending a day together.
We loaded our dogs in the car and headed out. This is where I should be showing you pictures of the amazing geological features between home and Casper. There are lots of uplifts at various angles and in multiple directions. They generally show sedimentary layers, but the layers are of different thickness and mineral makeup and are weathering in very different ways. My next trip, I’ll stop and photograph some of my favorites. I promise.
Casper Shopping Successes
Our first stop in Casper was the Target in the mall. I had a couple of gift cards and was hoping to pick up a pair of cafe tiers and some new measuring cups. They had both, but the cafe tiers were of rather heavy and plain fabric, and the measuring cups were either plastic or stainless with plastic handles. We left empty handed.
My husband suggested we try Macy’s next. They had no cafe tiers, but their cute aprons were on sale!! I picket out two lovely cotton aprons and found a set of Martha Stewart measuring cups, all stainless and hefty.
Next we went to Bed, Bath, & Beyond, also in the mall. In their drapery department we found a nice selection of cafe curtains to choose from. There were 3 sets that met my criteria of being 36″ long and white. I rejected one pair because they were too sheer. Another set was charming, with embroidered flowers and bugs, but the fabric was polyester. The white of the polyester did not compare well with the white of the cotton, lace trimmed set I ended up getting.
We moved on then to Home Depot, where I had every intention of buying a new rug for my office space. The selection was not what I remembered, and I did not find a rug I liked. In the lighting department, we picked out a ceiling fan with light to replace the old office light fixture. It will look nice and keep me cooler this summer.
My husband has been wanting to get us new office chairs, so our next stop was Staples. Their chairs were on sale, and there a couple that were really comfy. I chose a Lazy Boy manager’s chair in beige, which will provide comfort for my tush when it’s computer time.
Lunch in Casper
Finally, we went to Old Chicago for lunch. Now I have to say that this is not a great choice for a person who eats no grains or sugar. I ordered an Italian Chef Salad. It was loaded with pepperoni, salami, Canadian Bacon, and turkey. I asked for the dressing on the side so that I could taste before adding it. The dressing tasted like it had sugar in it so I passed. I’ll ask to go elsewhere for lunch on our next trip to Casper.
All in all it was a good trip. I only made two impulse purchases (my two sale aprons) and had to postpone the purchase of my rug. I got to spend the WHOLE DAY with my husband, and that’s a treat.
